Who else just had one of the best Christmases eva? So glorious. There was snow, there was family, there was food, and there were blog props. All the gifted blog props a girl could ask for (and um, I DID ask).
I can’t wait to snap some shots of cookies in my uncle’s hand-carved wood bowls, or measure baking powder in those adorable Anthropologie measuring spoons happily sitting in my kitchen drawer. Food tastes better in amazing vessels. Did any of you receive awesome kitchen supplies this year? Do tell, do tell!
Does anyone else love love the movie Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, from the fabulous ’80s? I feel really bad for Goldie when she receives a washing machine for her birthday – dreary domestic tools do not a fun birthday present make. The same is never true, however, for kitchen items. Kurt, you should have gone for a double oven.
Speaking of ovens, please get thee to an oven to make this sticky toffee pudding. Nope, it’s not a custard pudding despite the name. Brits call all dessert “pudding”, so says my bestie in England. Also, please don’t be scared by the dates. I didn’t realize I liked dates until I tried this dish. They’re DELECTABLE. They beat out dried apricots and prunes (cringe) by a mile. This is a must do.
Want to make this dessert over the top? Add ice cream to it – eggnog ice cream, if you know what’s good for ya. It amps up the richness of the dessert, the caramel sauce coats the ice cream, and the ice cream seeps into the cake as the warm cake melts it. I can’t EVEN handle it. It’s winter happiness in a bowl.
Hurry up and make this for New Year’s Eve! The leftovers you eat on January 1st won’t count, because calories from leftovers never count. Right? Bueller?
